Liebster Award Nomination

Huge thank you to The Teen Queen  for nominating me! 💜💜

Check out her blog at

I love her friendly writing style and the amazing tips she shares. (Like the lip scrub recipe! Personal fave.) She posts plenty of quick and easy food ideas that actually taste great. Looking forward to more posts from The Teen Queen. Keep slaying babe.  ❤

Let’s dive right in.

1. If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go? Why?

There are so many places I’d love to see but I’d say my top destination would be France. I’m so embarrassed to say that my sole motivation to go to France is that movie about a cooking rat. Ratatouille. I love French the language, as well as the culture and country. I love the book How To Be Parisian Wherever You Are, the French have an air of sophistication and elegant simplicity I would love to master.

2. Why did you decide to start blogging?

I started my blog when I was 15, I’m now 19. Back then I needed somewhere to share my ideas and thoughts and get feedback. Now blogging has also become about archiving all my experiences as well as connecting with new people.

3. What was the happiest moment of your life?

The happiest moment of my life? I have no answer hahaaa.

4. If you could describe yourself in only five words, which ones would you choose?

Opinionated, Forgiving, Selfish, Creative, Enthusiastic

5. What is your favourite drink?

Liqui Fruit Cranberry Cooler

6. What is your favourite song right now?

The theme song for the cartoon series  6teen.

7. If you could go back in time and change something from your past, what would it be?

Nothing. Everything that I’ve ever done or that has happened to me has shaped me into who I am. I wouldn’t change a thing.

8. What is your dream job?

Working as a writer and film director. I really want a director’s chair with “Rafaelle” on the back of it.

9. Are you a dog or cat person?

Cat. Cat. Cat. Love cats. 💜

10. Do you prefer memes or quotes?

Memes definitely.

I’d like to nominate the following amazing new bloggers

10 Things Young Creatives Should Know

Grab a cup, we are spilling creativi-tea!

[Let’s pretend that was hilariously funny]

I had the pleasure of collaborating with the amazing Zoey from for this advice post. Jump in.

There’s no exact formula to winning when it comes to this stuff. But we’ve come up with a bunch of things that successful creators seem to flow with:

  •  Don’t trade honesty for relatability.

Not everyone will love your work or agree with it. Whether you make music, write poetry, or are a makeup artist. You have to keep it 100% you. People can always tell when you’re trying too hard to please them. It feels forced and lacks your unique style and charm. So stay honest to your brand of creativity.

  • Be a sponge…literally

Soak it all in. If you find an inspiration, hold on to it. Keep absorbing people’s work and things that remind you of your ultimate goal. There’s nothing as motivating as looking up to people who do what you do and have become successful at it.

  • Challenge yourself!

It’s easy to get comfortable when you get good at one thing. Don’t sell yourself short! There’s always a way to be better than the last time. Every time you sit down to work, challenge yourself to produce greater things.

  • There will always be losses

You can’t avoid it. Sometimes stuff just won’t play out the way you want it to. You set out on a project, and before you’re even halfway through, you’re screaming “I should never have done this” That’s normal. You just have to move on from it. Don’t stay stuck.

  •  Find your happy place

Our environments affect us in the most obvious ways. If you’re not feeling up to it when it comes to your work, switch up the scene. You need to have an environment where your creative energy flows. Filter out whatever stops you from doing what you need to.

  • Build a network when you start out

As a young creative you have to build a network for your creative talent. It may be scary  to interact with other people but it will assist you in the long run. You have to go out of your way to go to events where you can meet people who share similar aspirations. It could be fashion events, expos, cultural events, makeup or dance events. Talk to the people you meet and chances are you could meet people who will love your work, back you up and work with you in the future.

  • Self promote your talent

I cannot stress this enough, when you’re a young creative- you have to share your content on social media. Self promoting may sound like a total pain but its always a great idea to share your talents. Share your content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat. The good part is you get to reach potential clients or people interested in your work, the more your promote your own content.

    fight the doubts
  • Trust the process and be patient

When you’re a young creative you may see other creative’s instantly getting successful and you want to reach that same level as them. Now stop right there, you shouldn’t compare yourself to the next creative- you are completely unique and immensely talented in your own lane. So enjoy your journey and keep sharpening your skills and promoting your work as you will get different opportunities as you progress. Keep your head up.

  • Sharpen your talents!

Sometimes you get stuck and don’t know what to do but you feel like you need to create something. Well, you should join some classes or workshops to improve your skills. So go book that art class or makeup class or dance class or workshop and get your groove on because you most likely could learn something new that makes you stand out from other creatives!

  • Don’t be afraid to step out of your box

Now it may sound frightening, “stepping out of the box” but it actually could be really helpful. To improve your skills you could probably try new art material such as charcoal or colic markers for your pieces, practice a new style of dance like ballet, its never too late to  work with a photographer you like on a photoshoot. You don’t have to abandon your own style, just try it in different ways that help you grow.

I’m a huge fan of poetry. I look for raw and emotive pieces. I found that in Soso’s debut poem Gold.

Once upon a time there was a good guy and a pretty girl
He promised her that one day he would give her the world
She vibed with the idea for a little while
But unfortunately she ran out of breath after a couple of miles
She developed a fancy for a worthless fuckboy
Without realizing that to him she was nothing but a toy
He had nothing but internet punchlines and fuckboy clothes
But she failed to see and make the u-turn on the road
So the good guy got turned down and was absolutely broken
She had slashed through his heart and really cut it right open
She turned away from the human form of her happiness
For a fuckboy, who would soon deprive her of this happiness
The good guy lived on, and carried himself pretty strong
Even found himself a good girl and they got along
The pretty girl got cheated on like a math exercise
Too dumb to see through a fuckboy’s disguise

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink
It’s funny how these girls are smarter but always fail to think
You let a good guy go, and chose the f_ckboy road
He ain’t shit but steel with my colour. I am the real Gold

So after she got dumped by the one she thought was the one
She found herself back right where she had begun
She ran back to the good guy for a rebound
But he had a girl now, so she was out of bounds
Now the world had stepped on her heart twice with both feet
All because she was looking for a ship in the wrong fleet
See, all men are made of bones, meat and soul
But it’s what’s inside the heart that should really score the goal
So the pretty girl wept and wasn’t a pretty girl no more
She got what she deserved for acting like a stupid hoe
Heart break and depression
Suicide, her intention
Tears engulfing all the tissues in the world not to mention
The good guy hit her up, just to check what’s up
She let him know how much she regretted fucking up
She let a good guy go and chose the fuckboy road

He ain’t shit but steel with my colour, I am the real Gold

So girl! (An Interview With @natproctor)

With 10k followers on IG,  Natasha Proctor has got a lot of eyes on her. I hit her up for a chat about being curvy and confident. Dive in!

How are you?
N:  I’m good 😂

So girl! Everybody knows that you’re confident and you always look on fleek! But not everyone knows how you do it. What makes you confident?

N: What makes me confident?  Well, loving myself, accepting the way I am. And most importantly, not comparing myself to anyone.

Do you ever feel like you’ve gotta impress people with how you look? Considering that you are a popular girl.

N: No I don’t have to impress people with how I look. Like, I don’t care what people think of me. I could leave the house without makeup on and wouldn’t feel embarrassed or anything. I could leave the house looking simple and still feel good yeah. I really don’t consider what people would think of me yeah. I just do me. I do what makes me happy,  what makes me comfortable.  I don’t live to impress people, I live for me babe.

[Thank you for being real!! We need more girls who really do whatever makes them happy.]

People can be nasty right? What do you have to say to anyone who compares you to skinnier girls?

N: Yes people can be nasty and all. But it doesn’t bother me at all. Like, I don’t care about anyone’s opinion at all. Yes they do try to hurt my feelings but as a wise , mature person , I don’t take it to heart nor respond to their negativity. I ignore them and let God deal with them.

You’re a confident girl, who knows herself. 5 years from now where do you think your confidence will lead you?

N: Success babe… I’d be able to travel the world without having to budget.

A lot of girls are branded “fat not thick”. What would you say to girls who get told this kind of mess?

N: Well,  some people brand me as “fat” but I don’t care at all. Coz I believe that I’m not. It’s like someone trying to convince me that a banana is orange yet it’s yellow.

Natasha: thick and proud  in this African attire

Don’t know how to explain this but all I’d say is that they shouldn’t let what they are branded as get to them.  They should have this I don’t care attitude.

Well said thank you so much.

N: You’re welcome babe

On a happier note! It’s no secret that you love fashion and aren’t afraid to look hot. Who are your fav celebs to look at for style inspiration?

N: I don’t have any 😂😂

If you could officially model shoes, clothes and accessories, which top 3 labels would you choose?

N: Puma, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein

Get you a thick mami – natproctor

Finally the last question: what is the biggest lesson life has taught you?

N: Never expect to get the same treatment you give.

Huge thanks to Natasha Proctor.

Guest Poem: From the Heart (By B)

The title…that’s where this that I’m going to put down is from…

The heart, that’s where love is from.

Two hearts beat together in sync. Made for one another, they beat a thump for a thump and thud for thud.

A melody so perfect is produced; a love so beautiful is witnessed by envious bystanders.

But nothing is ever really perfect. Slowly the melody changes note by note and soon loses its tone, its rhythm, its pitch.

Everything all-so-envied is lost creating undesired distance between the beating hearts.

They slowly drift apart. They slowly lose their song.

Two hearts way too far from each other so each stand idle awaiting a sign – anything at all.

A familiar sound is what they get. A sound giving them the most comfort.

They are drawn closer and closer until finally they stumble upon each other once again.

Now they sit next to each other, joint by familiarity and comfort.

Reformed their melody, wrote their song afresh.

Two hearts beating in sync, a thump for a thump and a thud for thud.

Together they make a beautiful song, a song that will never reach its end.

Two lovers sunken deep in love…

…never want to leave each others side so they do anything to keep it blazing afire.

This was written by my lovely friend. xx  Thanks B ❤
